We recently surveyed the 55m Research Vessel RV ODYSSEY whilst the vessel was in Cape Town, South Africa. We were pleased to be instructed to survey this ice class vessel complete with extensive diving facilities and an A frame aft with a 25 tonne lifting capacity designed to launch and recover the two submarines that can be stowed in the main deck hangar. ODYSSEY will be familiar to you for her role in the BBC’s Blue Planet 2 series. We surveyed ODYSSEY over a period of 5 days with a team of 3 surveyors from Yacht Survey Partners. The sea trial took place in Table Bay, with the iconic backdrop of Table Mountain to one side and Robben island to the other side.
